About MitoraHub
MitoraHub is written by foreigners who fell in love with Japan deeply enough to build their lives here. Every recommendation comes from lived experience — not a press trip.
Why We Exist
We've lived here for years. Some of us bought houses here. Some of us married into Japanese families. We speak the language, pay the taxes, navigate the bureaucracy — and we know which ramen shop has been terrible for three years running.
That depth of knowledge is what makes MitoraHub different. We're not trying to go viral. We're trying to give you the answer you'd get if you had a close friend who lived in Japan and answered your questions honestly.
We cover food, travel, culture and real estate — the four areas where having insider knowledge changes everything from a good trip to a life-changing one.

Our Coverage
Ramen, sushi, street food, regional dishes, sake, konbini culture. Where locals eat and why tourist restaurants are usually a mistake.
Explore Food →Cities, rural Japan, hiking, islands, hidden temples. Itineraries built from experience, not from copying other websites.
Explore Travel →Festivals, etiquette, traditional arts, daily life. How to experience Japanese culture as a participant, not a spectator.
Explore Culture →Akiya vacant houses, city apartments, legal steps for foreigners. The guide we needed when we bought our own Japanese properties.
Explore Property →Some links on MitoraHub are affiliate links, meaning we earn a small commission if you make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. We only link to products and services we personally use or have thoroughly researched. Affiliate income helps us keep the site free and independent. We never let it influence our editorial opinions. If we think something isn't worth it, we say so regardless.
